I'll be honest, this was my longest project, as I spent 8 months from start to finish, with huge breaks in between. If I were doing it non-stop without breaks, I would probably finish it in 3-4 weeks. Sometimes I had a hard time working on it. I lost motivation at some point and thought that I couldn't find a way to recover it. People used to say it's ok to feel this way, but you never understand before it happens to you. Discipline. Discipline. Discipline. That's the only way. Doesn't matter how good you are, where you are from, what background you have, or what is behind your window, as long as you have discipline, you can eventually get back on track. Just do it. Start from something tiny, something that you will spend little time making, and finish it. Then repeat the other day. It worked with me. Motivation came as a bonus because I was already involved in a process.
Now, about the project itself. After almost 5 years in the industry as a professional, I still find it fascinating to see in real-time how something that was painted is transferred into 3D space. The most challenging but also most rewarding part of the creation was lightning. It's a night scene, and the moon is behind the tower, so in real life, you will have a huge dark shadow in front. I had to find a way to light this part without breaking the illusion that this is natural light and not just a huge spotlight. You tell me if I did a good job or not. I also want to express my gratitude to random artists from Discord communities, such as "ZugZug Studio", "Experience Points", and "Stylized Station", for sacrificing their personal time to give me their feedback, which was amazingly valuable.
